    To promote the highest levels of health and well-being, the University of Toledo campuses are tobacco-free. Pre-employment health screening requirements will include cotinine (nicotine) testing, as well as drug and other required health screenings for the position.     Positi o n Description:

    Under the supervision of a pharmacist performs tasks involving the dispensing, distribution and charging of drugs. Is involved in proper storage, compounding, packaging, labeling and record keeping associated with drugs. Pharmacy interns will also be mentored and learn to become a health system pharmacist. Pharmacy interns will observe and learn order processing, pharmacokinetic monitoring, patient education, and other health system clinical programs.

Qualifications:

Must be enrolled in an accredited college of pharmacy. Should be accepted into the professional division and must have (and maintain) Ohio Intern License within 90 days of hire. Good communication skills especially in the areas of meeting the public and other department are required.

  • Actively participates in performance improvement activities as it relates to job duties.

  • Demonstrates effective and culturally appropriate communications.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable;

  • Ability to hear (with or without aides)

  • Ability to orally communicate

  • Good manual dexterity

  • Ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 50 pounds occasionally

  • Ability to stand, walk constantly

  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel occasionally

Working Conditions:

This employee works in a busy retail setting requiring a high degree of professionalism and precision. It can be stressful at times. The employee in this position is expected to alternately deal with a variety of tasks including customer service, phone calls and dispensing functions. Physical demands include standing or walking for most of the working day and lifting not more than 50 pounds.
