This position will report into Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems Inc., Strategic Customer Group (SCG) and will be field-based with frequent travel to Titusville, NJ and Horsham, PA.

Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems Inc. and SCG provide account management and customer support services to key health care customers, including leading health plans, pharmacy benefit managers, hospital systems, group purchasing organizations and government health care institutions. The company also provides contract management, logistics and supply chain functions for the major Johnson & Johnson therapeutic areas.

The Sr. Manager, SP Strategy is responsible for understanding the patient experience through the SP channel for Janssen specialty brands and identifying and pursing compliant opportunities to enhance the patient experience. This will include engagement with Janssen’s SP partners and addressing interdependencies that exist across the broader health care ecosystem (e.g., Janssen CarePath, other patient solution providers, Janssen field reimbursement managers, payers). He or she will design, develop, and operationalize compliant programs which support approved brand strategies in the SP channel and improve the patient experience for Janssen specialty products. He or she will make material contributions to future specialty product fulfillment capabilities through business process improvement and expanded uses of data & analytics.

The position reports to the Director, SP Strategy & Capability. The position will currently have no direct reports.


  • Engage in internal and external SP business reviews to understand and enhance the patient experience

  • Align on brand marketing team priorities and partner to design, develop, and execute SP strategies and programs that optimize the patient experience

  • Partner closely with National Account Directors, SP Channel to engage SPs and implement programs

  • Create resources for National Account Directors, SP Channel to support SP engagement

  • Work with Commercial Excellence (CE) to derive insights from data and catalyze opportunities to enhance the patient experience in the SP channel, and identify new uses of integrated data

  • Collaborate with Janssen Patient Access Solutions team to understand and optimize the role of Janssen CarePath for key brands as it relates to SP strategies

  • Partner closely with brand marketing teams to understand and optimize the role of Janssen field reimbursement managers as it relates to SP strategies

  • Identify best practices across the Janssen specialty portfolio and scale strategies where appropriate

  • Contribute to shaping future specialty product fulfillment, including monitoring the SP marketplace for innovation and best-practices

  • Partner closely with brand marketing and other cross-functional teams, including Health Care Compliance and Legal to design and implement SP requirements and strategies for new launches

  • Monitor program quality and implement improvements as appropriate

Required :

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, MBA is preferred

  • Minimum of 6+ years related business experience

  • Demonstrated business acumen with deep understanding of the health care marketplace

  • Strategic thinking and the ability to uncover new insights and translate into opportunity and action

  • Ability to challenge the status quo, create potential solutions, and enroll others to test and refine

  • Ability to work through ambiguity and establish structure (e.g., objectives, project teams, workplans)

  • Proven track record working in a matrixed environment and leading cross-functional teams to consensus

  • Demonstrated experience shaping and influencing organizational decision-making

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present to all levels of leadership

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Ability work independently and identify additional opportunities to contribute on his or her own initiative

  • Intellectual curiosity and hunger to learn more about the evolving health care marketplace


  • Understanding of patient journey(s) through the health care ecosystem for specialty therapeutics

  • Deep knowledge of SP role in the fulfillment of specialty medications

  • Knowledge of market access and product fulfillment dynamics (e.g., payer, PBM, IDN, manufacturer patient support services and manufacturer field reimbursement managers)

  • Knowledge of market access and specialty pharmacy data sources and uses (e.g., SP data)


    This position is field-based and will require up to 20% domestic travel, as well as frequent business meetings at the Janssen offices in Titusville, NJ and Horsham, PA.
