The Administrator II will oversee the departmental administrative team currently comprised of three Administrator I team members, an Administrative Assistant, Secretarial Staff, Informational Analysts, and will work closely with the HR Business Partner and HR Recruiter. This position is responsible for assisting the Chief Pharmacy Officer in managing the strategic plan for the department; using key performance indicators to keep projects on track as well as developing standardized administrative processes across all areas of business in the department.


Pharmacy is a highly regulated department that includes many diverse and complicated business areas located within the hospitals and in the community. With over 500 employees, responsibilities in the department encompass a wide range of functions, in both inpatient and outpatient areas often with combined complex regulatory requirements, accreditations and important business strategies. Typically, responsibilities include most or all of the following, as well as other related duties:

  • Collaborates with other leaders in the department in adapting and developing academic, research, business and other plans supporting the strategic plan and objectives of the department. Is responsible for planning and directing administrative and other support staff to ensure business objectives are met in all areas of the department.

  • Develops the process and provides departmental oversight for onboarding new employees, training, competencies and associated documentation. Is responsible for coordination of these processes across the entire department and ensures documentation is kept in appropriate files for Joint Commission and other compliance/accreditation needs.

  • Is responsible for coordinating and implementation of cascading departmental goals. Will work with Director, Assoc. Directors and Managers to take high level departmental goals and align the job specific goals to support the department’s mission.

  • Prepares correspondence, operating reports, financial and administrative reports, payroll and other related personnel records and inventories. Develops annual report for the department of pharmacy with internal and external parties as intended audiences. This report will highlight key achievements within the department, as well as highlighting key performance metrics and details pertaining to the departmental management plan.

  • Organize and develop a system to collect and track all vendor agreements and contracts across the department including but not limited to affiliation agreements, agreements with outside vendors, prime vendor agreements, contract pharmacy agreements and Outpatient Pharmacy payer agreements.

  • Assists management within the department in areas of talent management. This includes a focus on employee engagement, employee retention and training. Will work in collaboration with the HR Business Partner to develop programs supporting the department including performance management, career ladders, and succession planning. Oversee the process for appointments, promotions, salary and related changes, coordinating with the Human Resources Department., HR Compensation, and others concerned. Will ensure processes are in place that support ICARE, as well as diversity and inclusion.

  • Selects and supervises professional/administrative assistants, provides for their training and development and evaluates their performance. Approves other personnel actions. Continuously evaluates the administrative needs for the department and submits recommendations to the Director.

  • Represents the department of pharmacy with other departments across the organization, as well as external professional organizations. Will assist in the development of a consistent marketing and branding strategy that will create alignment and a clear vision for the department.

  • Performs other related duties as required.


    Bachelor's degree and 5 years relevant experience including at least 2 years at a managerial level; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree, equivalent course work, or specialized experience in an appropriate field related to the assignment is desirable.
