A.O. Fox Hospital Pharmacy Technician in Oneonta, New York
A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital is dedicated to recruiting talented professionals to provide the primary and specialty care needed in our community. Fox will harness information technology and provide facilities that will optimize clinical outcomes and patient experience.
The Pharmacy Technician performs a variety of technical and clerical duties with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and patient safety. Responsible to maintain confidential reports, enter and retrieve data utilizing the computer system, prepare sterile products utilizing aseptic technique, prepare unit dose medications for distribution, and manage medication inventory throughout the hospital and clinics, including the automated medication dispensing system.
Accurately fills unit dose medication carts, trays, kits, and stock areas.
Deliver medication carts, IV medications, and supplies as required.
Manage medication inventory including ordering, receiving, re-stocking, and storage of medications.
Rotate inventory to ensure use prior to expiration date and identifies and replaces outdated and unusable medications.
Prepare unit dose medications for distribution including pulling, packaging, label preparation, and barcode scanning validation.
Perform monthly inspections of selected areas.
Maintain logs, records, and other required documentation accurately.
Prepare sterile products including hazardous medications and parenteral nutrition utilizing aseptic technique in accordance with all pharmacy policies and standard operating procedures.
Utilize, clean, and maintain aseptic compounding area and equipment according to pharmacy policies and standard operating procedures.
Conduct quality monitors, collects data and completes documentation as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma, GED
Experience: Previous pharmacy experience preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of medical and medication terminology helpful, attention to detail essential
Physical Requirements: Standing, Walking most of day. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
Licenses/Certifications: Certified pharmacy technician preferred
