Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital Certified Pharmacy Tech in Manistique, Michigan
We are looking for a dependable pharmacy technician to assist the pharmacist in the preparation and distribution of medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient and pharmacy records in a manner consistent with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as pharmacy policies and procedures.
High School graduate or equivalent.
Current Pharmacy Technician License in the State of Michigan or willing to obtain.
BLS certified or willing to obtain.
Advanced knowledge of computers, including MS Excel and MS Word.
Knowledge of pharmacy software systems and web-based interfaces for procurement, distribution and accounting of pharmaceuticals.
Knowledge of drug names, healthcare terminology and Michigan pharmacy law.
Complete understanding and compliance with all HIPAA regulations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in electronic order entry/dispensing medication.
Performs pharmacy billing/charge reconciliation.
Maintains pharmaceutical inventory as directed by the pharmacist.
Maintains perpetual inventory for controlled substances.
Sequesters and processes all outdated and recalled medications (including preparation and submission to reverse distributor for credit or destruction).
Performs monthly inspections of all departments where drugs are stored or used.
Responsible for administration and maintenance of the ADM (automated dispensing machine) inventory and user tables.
Responsible for ordering and distribution of all IV supplies.
Participates in the 340B drug discount program for all entities that are qualified under the organization, including oversight of drug purchasing, inventory processes, dispensing patterns, regular reporting on savings opportunities, split billing software maintenance, program compliance, and comprehensive audit support. Participation and coordination includes assuring qualifications for the program are met and maintained (per HRSA/OPA).
Possesses current knowledge and compliance with all hospital-wide and departmental policies and procedures.
Participates in educational programs, in-services and meetings as required.
Displays team collaboration, positive attitude, and excellent communication skills.
Demonstrates appropriateness in meeting objectives in age-specifics.
Participates in all aspects of management and compliance with Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) requirements.
Compliance with all clean-room policy, procedure, and practices in accordance with the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB) guidelines.
Compliance with all aspects of Michigan Automated Prescription System (MAPS).
Compliance with all aspects of pseudoephedrine sales requirements according to CMEA.
