Supervises pharmacy technician staff and workload in assigned, specialized shop/section of the department to ensure a safe and efficient operation.
Coordinates and supervises the daily operations of pharmacy technician staff.
In partnership with pharmacy manager, is accountable for the daily performance of medication preparation and dispensing activities.
Monitors productivity, quality of work and completion of assignments.
Ensures pharmacy work areas are appropriately maintained, medication distribution systems operate reliably and efficiently, and all legal and regulatory requirements for medication preparation and dispensing are continuously met.
Recruits, orients, trains and evaluates pharmacy staff.
Schedules staff and ensures appropriate staff coverage.
Assists in the development and administration of departmental policies and procedures.
Resolves operational and staff issues or conflicts.
Works collaboratively with technicians to obtain suggestions and feedback on improving work processes.
Oversees pharmacy staff development and promotes the advancement of pharmacy technician staff.
Identifies areas where cost control and waste management practices would be effective, making recommendations and participating in process improvement.
Participates in compliance and quality improvement activities of the department.
Resolves customer complaints and works with staff to ensure excellent customer service.
Perform the duties of the technician staff as needed.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Pharmacy Technician Supervisor – Medication System and Operations – Day Shift
In collaboration with Medications Systems and Operations Manager and the Day shift Pharmacy Technician Supervisor- Medication Systems and Operations:
Supervise day to day operations in the central pharmacy distribution areas
Develop, optimize and monitor technician workflows
Adjust workflows as needed with fluctuating demand and resources
Minimize waste and engage in process improvement
Hold staff accountable to and ensure compliance with NH Board of Pharmacy regulations, The Joint Commission Environment of Care and Medication Management standards
Develop training, education, and competency assessment programs and associated documents for pharmacy technicians assigned to distributive roles
Assess and document staff competency for technicians in distributive roles
Provide opportunities for staff to advance their skills and contribute to distributive practices in the pharmacy (e.g. projects, new implementations, P&P review)
Develop policies, procedures and job aids
Monitor technician compliance with policies and procedures
Provide ongoing monitoring, feedback and assessment of staff adherence to job expectations
Assist with the development of technician schedules
Contribute to the management of shortages
Develop and report quality and productivity metrics for distributive processes
Staff as needed to support distribution or training in distribution
Minimum Qualifications :
Certified pharmacy technician (CPhT) required.
Minimum of 3 years of combined supervisory and technician experience in a pharmacy or the equivalent preferred.
Associates degree, or higher, in a management or health related field preferred.
Substantial knowledge of technician duties and demonstrated high level of precision, responsibility, efficiency, and judgment required.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and possess the ability to set priorities and make critical decision.
Effective problem solving, and change management abilities desired.
Effective oral and written communication skills, as well as demonstrated interpersonal and team skills essential.
Required Licensure/Certification Skills :
Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT and NH Board of Pharmacy) required.
BLS within 30 days of hire in the Retail or Specialty Pharmacy
