At PCA Pharmacy our goal for the Advanced Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Program is to a create a one-year program that combines cutting edge curriculum, paid work experience, business principles, and best practices for a career as a Pharmacy Technician.
Students will have a combination of classroom training and on-the-job training each week. We have partnered with Jefferson Community and Tech College (JCTC) and instructors from their Pharmacy Tech Program have worked with us on the current curriculum. Other activities will involve the Pharmacy Tech-in-training curriculum, course work focused on the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Exam preparation, and
hands-on work in each department.
• A 12-month program.
• Rotations through various departments:
• Dispensing role (including Delivery and IV Department) (6 months total).
• Order Entry (3 months).
• Billing (3 months).
• Preparation for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Exam.
Students in the Advanced Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Program will have met the necessary requirements to obtain a Pharmacy Technician License with the Indiana Board of Pharmacy and will be prepared for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Exam. Students that complete the program may qualify for a full-time position with PCA Pharmacy based on current company openings.
High school graduates who desire a career as a Pharmacy Technician
Ability to obtain a Pharmacy Tech-in-training license (18 years of age).
Minimum GPA 2.8
