Job Description Northern Light CA Dean Hospital Department: Pharmacy - General Position is located: Northern Light C A Dean Hospital Work Type: Full Time FTE: 0.9 (36 hours) Work Schedule: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM Summary: Under supervision of a registered pharmacist the technician assists in providing effective, appropriate and safe pharmacy services. Responsibilities include providing medication, drug information and pharmaceutical services to patients, nurses, physicians and other hospital personnel. Responsibilities: • Participates in pharmacy orientation programs, training programs for pharmacy supportive personnel, pharmacy staff meetings and in-service educational programs. • Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy. • Maintains and checks records accurately. Processes records of medications and supplies dispensed to patients, computes charges and enters them into the computer (including price changes). • Receives inventory orders from suppliers and verifies quantities and screens medication expiration dates. Maintains inventory of medications and supplies and reorders them accordingly. • Assists in filling medication orders. Assists pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical care for patients of all age ranges. Must be able to identify and understand that there are dosage variations between age groups and know to consult with pharmacist if any doubts or questions arise. • Demonstrates ability to calculate figures and amounts relating to dosage calculations when filling various orders. • Accurately and efficiently processes returned goods for exchange, refund or credit. • Packages unit doses according to hospital policies and procedures. • Responsible for filling and basic maintenance of automated dispensing machines (ADMs). • Oversees day to day functions of the 340B drug program within the hospital (ie. split billing and ordering). • Maintains and manages interdepartmental ordering and billing for the hospital and any outpatient physician practices. • Assists Director of Pharmacy with annual inventory preparation and completion with a focus on accuracy and inventory par management. Credentials: Essential: * Must obtain Maine Pharmacy Technician license first, willing to train, but experience is preferred. Education: Essential: * High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Working conditions: Essential: * Potential exposure to hazardous materials. * Work with computers, typing, reading or writing. * Extend body and limbs to reach items. * Lifting, moving and loading 30 to 50 pounds. * Continuous sitting. * Continuous standing. * Continuous walking.
